We found him! Pluto’s Goofy Cousin Colt! This 3 year old Border Collie/Pyrenees mix boy probably has a story to tell about his past … but you know what – he has forgotten all about it! Talk about having a glass half-full! Colt only sees the good side of everything and he is ready to find his perfect home.

Colt is an easy going lad with a goofy sense of humor – he seems to find the “happy” in everything. His great temperament is combined with the smarts of a Border collie – he just gets it. He knows he is a goof and just doesn’t care – he loves life.  He currently weighs in at about 65 lbs and we suspect he should be at 70 or 75 and we are working on that. He is a tall, lean lovin’ machine!

Though we don’t think he knew what toys were – he learned how to play with a ball in just a few throws and mastered the doggie door within hours at his foster’s house. He is a smart fella – an exceptionally quick learner and really loves his pack – human and canine. Just a great all-around boy and he puts a smile on everyone’s face and asks for only cuddles in return.

He adores his foster family and gets all of them to play with him – the humans and even the wee BC puppy who didn’t like him at first (he is like a giant to her) but his patience and tolerance won her over in the end and now she joins the play sessions and instigates many of them. He is very playful (that goofy nature) and loves a good run – though he makes us laugh out loud when he runs – it is really more of a skip with an extra spring in his step. Nope – not the faster critter at the house and he won’t be a pro at fly-ball but he always enjoys getting to where he is going with a smile on his face.

He's great on walks - doesn't pull on the leash but also doesn't cling to your side – so a great hiking partner for sure. We seriously thought about getting a saddle for him to take along just in case we get tired … but we settled for a backpack and he gets to carry his own water (and everyone elses). He bonds very quickly to his humans and though he is a laid back boy – we truly suspect his Pyrenees side would come to the forefront if his pack were threatened. Colt doesn't make much noise - he is not a barker - will only bark to alert. He also is a pro in the car - loves the adventure of a good car ride - prefers riding shotgun but if he can't he will take in the views for a bit and then settle down for a nap.

He would like an active family who enjoys an active lifestyle and a good laugh with at least one if not more canine playmates. Older “sturdy” kids would be fine but no little ones under 4’ – he’d walk right over them and probably squish them when he came in for pets. Cats are an unknown but because of his temperament – probably a possibility with the right introduction.

Colt is neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He is crate trained but we suspect it won’t be needed – he learned the doggy door in a heartbeat and he is house trained.

For more information on Colt – please follow our adoption process on our website (www.enchantmutts.org) and submit your application to info@enchantmutts.org. Colt’s fee is $250 and he will NOT be adopted out of the state of New Mexico.
