Meet the Flying Dutchman – or as we call him - Dutch. We think this little rascal is a west highland terrier / corgi mix (with some pirate thrown in) and he is packed with personality!
This 6 month old (ish) boy is a super sweet and gives his all to try and please his people. He is learning things every day and loves to learn! Dutch loves a good toy (or 10) or even a shoe (yep – he is a pup) and seems to think everything on the ground is his and all his – we think his favorite toys are the sticks he finds in the yard and then brings in the house to show everyone. He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters and loves to tussle with a 45 pound GSD pup (his best buddy) so he will need a playful buddy in his home to show him the ropes. He has some nice energy and even the border collies and Aussies have a time keeping up with him when he is playing “Air Bud.” He is quite athletic and his shorter corgi legs at times have springs – yep they do! He weighs 21 pounds and most of that is attitude.
Dutch’s coat is all westie (and all white with the exception of his tan pirate patch over his left eye and what he refers to as his “scar” over his right eye – really it is just a smaller tan spot but we humor him and let him call it his scar). He really has the best tail that never stops moving and the cutest little upright corgi ears we have ever seen. You can read his expressions by watching his ears and his amber eyes are always lit up with laughter.
He is a happy boy who has mastered the doggy door in the house and is house trained and crate trained. He is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, microchipped and ready for his new home. We prefer an active family who has another canine companion for Dutch to learn from. No small children please as he can be a bit mouthy (as all pups are).
Dutch's adoption fee is $200.00 and he will not be adopted out of the state of New Mexico. If you think you can handle a pirate in the house - follow the information above.
