adoption process

Meet Wilhelmina – aka Mina (MEE’NAH). This little Pomeranian girl was either tossed out to die or couldn’t find her way home and no one cared to go find her. She was picked up by a rural shelter and held for 5 days unclaimed until we got the call about her. Fact – our gain!

Our vet thinks that Mina is 10-12 years old – so we are calling her 12. She is just a tiny thing at 6 lbs and most of that is hair. When she came – she had very little hair, bad skin, and was a bag of bones. With some great nutrition and lots of love – her coat is now a soft and puffy fluff (cream colored) and she now weighs in at a whipping 6 lbs! She actually handles bathes very well and enjoys a bit of soaking in the tub accompanied by some soft Neil Diamond or Bee Gee's songs and lavendar scented bubbles.

Mina also enjoys a nice fluffy dog bed to sleep on (or on hotter days – some cool tile under her fluff). She has selective hearing and while she can’t see the fly on the wall – she can make out shapes, shadows and especially movement and will happily trot after whatever the movement. She can still get her GIDDUP on – whirling like a dervish when she is feeling good and especially turning on the dance moves around food. When she wants attention she will come and stand by her foster and if she doesn’t get a cuddle or a scratch quick enough – she will start poking legs with her nose.

Mina is a hiccup in the middle of the rest of the dogs at her foster home and keeps up with the best of them but we have to make sure they don’t run her over. Her favorite activities are doing walk-a-bouts in the backyard, eating, taking leisurely walks through the house, eating, getting treats and seeking out her person(s). She comes alive at meal times and who can blame her? She is the best clock for telling time and she has two times – breakfast time and dinner time. She loves to be “roughed-Up” and will wiggle and squirm with the best of them if you scratch the right places. She will take a stroll to the back slider door and throw a look over her shoulder at you to let her out to potty (doggy door is too big for her) - but if her foster isn’t quick enough - Mina might have an accident – but we have her schedule down pretty tight.

Mina is fully vetted and just got a dental – her remaining three teeth just make her more adorable. It does not hamper her ability to chow down on anything that is appetizing. We have her on the normal regiment of supplements to help the oldies and we do give her soft food and she is doign very well. She will happily wrestle any piece of kibble that is dropped to the floor and will succeed in eating it and happily.

Mina needs a family that appreciates fine mature bourbon – slow, smooth and easy but with a kick. She would make an excellent companion for a single or couple that has some time on their hands and likes to hang out with a pretty fluff ball and reap the rewards of an older, easy girl and who truly enjoys these little lion dogs. She would love a home with another easy dog that won't jump on her, but will play a bit with her, allow her to be their shadow and treat her like the delicate flower she is. The same should be said for kids. She should not go to a home with children who might bounce on her or pull her beautiful ears or tail.

As with all our seniors – there is no adoption fee for Mina. But you will have to run the gauntlet of our adoption team who will ensure a great home for her – we think she has some good quality time left. So if you have acquired a taste for an excellent bourbon – absolutely must be accompanied by food – then let us know why this girl tickles your fancy! Please review our adoption process and send a completed application to info@enchantmutts.org (click the Adoption Process Link above).
