This is Periwinkle…. aka Wink…. This little jewel was taken to a rural shelter after spending 8-9 years at the only home she ever knew – well – in the backyard of the only home she ever knew. They never let her in. We suspect when she started looking a bit under the weather the decision to dump her just came naturally to them – not surprised. She was a mess.

BUT – this girl landed right where she needed to land. She is the most charismatic little jewel and absolutely adores people, has a great sense of humor and a whole lot of affection to give. She is making up for lost time and is learning how to flutter those pretty blue marbled eyes. Where you are – she is – she is completely loyal. And her forgiving heart is ready to love again!

We think Wink is an aussie/spaniel or perhaps even a JRT (Jack Russel Terrier) mix and weights in at a tidy 31 lbs – a great size. She is between 8 and 9 years old and feels like a puppy now! We hate to even mention the word senior … she really takes offense – she can still go from 0 to 100 in a Nano second and is ready to go when you are. Wink doesn’t really walk anywhere… she prances and if you give her a walkway – she will strut her stuff and fluff up those lovely feathers on her flowing tail. She thinks walking is fabulous and she is good on a leash (quite the natural as she would never leave her human) but she also enjoys down time quietly reading or watching TV with her humans.

Wink does great with the other foster dogs in the house and is learning to play with them and with toys – we think she lived a lonely life with little or no canine or human contact prior to rescue and is making up for lost time and enjoying the companionship. She can be in a family with other dogs or an only dog. What she must have is the love of her humans – that is most important to her. Wink is housetrained and crate trained (though a crate is not necessary). She enjoys car rides and is a great passenger. She is a quiet girl and we have not heard her bark yet but she will smile all day long. She has the cutest little face – it is often hard to decide where to look – at her gorgeous eyes, her freckled face or her cute little button nose.

Wink has been diagnosed with a mild case of Lupus - Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). When she came to rescue – we had to shave her due to the matts all over her body that were pulling her skin out. We wanted a clean slate to work with her and make sure her skin could heal and so did she and the difference is night and day. She is ready to rock and roll with her very own family! Her regiment is simple actually – good kibble, vitamin E, Omega 3s, Missing Link and lots of veggies. She actually loves vegetables – well honestly she loves any food she can get her mouth on! Often called Miss Piggy at her foster home – Wink is learning that a carrot is just as good as a hot dog!

Wink is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, on monthly heartworm prevention, and chipped. She will need to be on a good healthy diet with supplements for the rest of her life but we expect that from all of our adopters. So if you think you are able to give this girl a great forever and she will absolutely make it worth your while …. please review our adoption process and forward a completed application to info@enchantmutts.org. Wink is waiting ….
