Meet ALEX. This hunk of Booti-licious Boyo is ready to find his forever.

Alex is a bleu merle American Miniature Shepherd (AMS / smaller Australian Shepherd), weighing in at 36 lbs and who moves like a dream and is a SUPER STAR Wannabe. With the right people – he will be a super star and we look forward to hearing all about his adventures and his pleather of accomplishments. He has the most amazing marbled eyes and his date of birth is 10/28/2022. He came into rescue when his family realized their home was not right for this furry Einstein and his next home will be the right one. We pulled his dad (TREY) into rescue in 2022 and TREY is amazing (and in his forever home) – we expect the same from and for ALEX.

ALEX is still very puppyish and has tons to learn – he is incredibly smart, witty and quick and happy to learn anything and quite proud when he learns something new. This is the important part - ALEX needs a home that understands the needs of herding breeds. He's a baby Einstein and does Algebra in his head, so he'll need training and socialization to become the best boy he can be. The investment will be worth it. You'll have a loyal, loving, funny companion who will probably be able to do your taxes next year with confidence. He is proud, confident and moves like a dream.

ALEX is great with other dogs and does well with all the dogs in his foster home and respects the seniors in the house. He needs a home with another dog to play with because his people aren’t going to be able to keep up with him. He has energy but he also has a nice off button. His doggy playmates need to be able to take a rough and tumble with the best of them, play tag until exhausted and be able to handle a sometimes pushy brother (who is also learning how to not be pushy). He needs entertainment and mental stimulation and if you don’t give him a job, he will invent one.

ALEX loves people but he is not a starter dog for people who don’t understand working dogs, and like many of his breed – once he bonds – he BONDS. He is not a good candidate for youngsters as he could possibly view them as sheep and there would endless whining and crying on the part of the youngster.

ALEX is housetrained with a doggy door, crate trained (though he sometimes has something to be said about being in a crate), wormed, neutered (as of 3/18/25), up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and micro chipped.

ALEX needs a home with people who are capable of handling a smart, active dog and who have a fenced yard and a dedication to long walks/jogs. He must also have a canine companion in the house (or you will be exhausted). He will be an excellent hiking companion and his obedience and/or agility prospects are endless. His people must have experience with working dogs. If you think you have it in you to have a potential SUPER STAR in your family, please complete an application (at the adoption process button above) and submit to info@enchantmutts.org

Sorry - ALEX WILL NOT be adopted out of the state of New Mexico.
