adoption process

Meet SKEETER – this little munchkin came to rescue from a hoarding situation. Poor little kiddo never got to go outside and we suspect it was a fight for food. But those days are behind this boy and he sure knows it! From a shy tiny tot to an outgoing, fearless warrior of the teeny tiny club – SKEETER is on the hunt for a forever family and mulch in the backyard! He loves to explore!

We suspect he is a mix of poodle and terrier and his DOB is right about mid to late April, 2024. So all the mischievous puppiness is going full-stream! He has a silky coat and it will get longer with age but never a heavy coat. His catawampus ears are the cutest ever – one semi-down and the other goes to the side where they will end up is anyone’s guess. He will look into your soul with his beautiful eyes and try to get you to buy him MORE toys! His foster has learned to not give in… as hard as it is... he has plenty already!

SKEETER is a puppy. He is all puppy, and does everything you would expect a young pup to do. He will chew your favorite shoes, nibble on your sofa, and leave unwanted holes in your remote. Don't worry; he will do all of this with a smile on his face. I mean, if you left those items where he could get them, shame on you... SKEETER is a fast learner and very willing to do his best. He’s looking for a Forever home that will guide him and help him learn how to be a very good boy and live his best life with a family to call his own.

He currently weights 10 lbs and we don’t think he will be more than 14 lbs. or so (unless he learns how to open the refrigerator by himself, which is a possibility and feasts upon whatever he can find). He is a smart little guy and learned the doggy door on day one. He is almost potty trained except when he is in full play mode with his foster playmates and then he forgets in his excitement. He will pass that stage. He is crate trained and with only a bit or protesting will chill out when he is in there especially with a toy or chew toy. Smart, sweet and ready to rumble!

Speaking of playmates, SKEETER will need another dog in the house to play with and teach him how to DOG. He is a pup and that equals energy – pee, poop play!!! We think he will even be good with the meow speakers and will probably take to their schooling of him rather quickly; getting a swat on your snoot can motivate a pup like that. Respect for the felines is instilled – not earned and he is about cat size so fair game. As far as little humans, prefer over 8 please.

SKEETER has had his series of puppy shots, rabies, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, wormed, micro chipped and will be neutered the end of September. He is available to the right home prior to his neuter with a puppy contract (included in the adoption fee) as we do not neuter before six months. He is at that prime bonding age so he needs his peeps. He is looking for a lifelong home and requires his humans to be home more than not and include his in their adventures.

Sorry - SKEETER WILL NOT be adopted out of the state of New Mexico.
