Meet WHISTLE. This little girl has the cutest face and behind that cute face is a serious brain and potential adopters need to be prepared. We suspect she is a terrier/aussie/doodle mix and our best guess on the terrier side is Dandie Dinmont mix, or some kind of aussie doodle thing-a-ma-gig… and whatever it is – it is special. She is a bit of a show stopper…. everyone wants to know what she is but we just can’t decide if her tendencies are terrier terrors or herding horrors… or all of the above. She was never claimed at an overcrowded shelter, she came to our rescue and has been growing in leaps and bounds ever since. Whistle is about 25 lbs, she shouldn’t get much bigger (put a lock on the fridge), has a very unique and beautiful blue merle coat (not too much shedding – doodle/terrier?), pretty amber eyes and we have given her a birthday at about February/March of 2023.She is all puppy and if you don’t know or have forgotten what it is like to have a young pup in the house and can’t handle all the shenanigans they can get up to, she isn’t for you. Whistle does everything you would expect a young pup to do. She will chew your favorite shoes, nibble on your sofa, and leave unwanted holes in your remote. Don't worry, she will do all of this with a cute smile on her face and you have to admit – she has an adorable face! I mean, if you left those items where she could get them, it's probably your fault anyways... Whistle is smart, witty, a bit sassy and eager to please. She is highly trainable and will do just about anything to garner affection and praise. Her favorite phrase is "good girl" followed by "do you want a treat”. She loves her toys and loves to romp and play. She is enjoying learning all the things that will make her a great part of a family. She can initially be shy with new people and needs some confidence building and we know she will get there (leaps and bounds since arrival). Whistle is good with other dogs, and we suspect she would like to be the boss lady but that has yet to be determined. She will need another playful dog in the house or folks that will chase the ball with her and can handle a few games of “tag” or wrestling every day and/or daily walks. She has energy, see above … you have to remember what it is like to have a puppy in the house, but she also has a nice off button. Whistle has no concept of personal space and her favorite place is right beside you, or right behind you with every step you take… literally. Because of this, and her tendency to take your hand in her mouth and lead the way around the house - we’re recommending that you have offspring of the sturdy variety, older kids (over 10 please) and they have to be able to take an ankle check or a finger nibble. Tiny, screaming kids would scare her, as they do me. Whistle is looking for a forever home that will guide her and help her learn how to be a very good girl so she can live her best life with a family to call her own. She is housetrained with a doggy door, crate trained (though she has something to be said about being in a crate), spayed, up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and micro chipped. Cats are an unknown but with the right introductions could be a possibility. If you think you can give this girl a fabulous life, remember what it is like with a puppy in the house, have a another playful pup in the house, no young kids and carry that secret love for all things terrier and/or sassy, please complete an application (at the adoption process button above) and submit to info@enchantmutts.org Sorry - WHISTLE WILL NOT be adopted out of the state of New Mexico. |
